SEEQC's Quantum Chip ambitions nearly reach fruition
They partner with Nvidia: towards Single Flux Quantum (SFQ) chip platform.
There is a lot of noise lately on the future of Quantum computing. Google’s PR machin sent quantum stocks like IONQ 0.00%↑ up over 300% as if they were meme stocks. As someone who has been covering Quantum computing’s very nascent technology, this is very disappointing to me.
Any voice that has a financial interests in hyping up the Quantum industry, isn’t going to be able to give you impartial info. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang famously said not so long ago that “very useful quantum computers” are probably still at least 20 years away, that is a reasonable assessment.
That doesn’t meant that there aren’t a great deal of interesting experiments taking place and companies being built. Progress is definitely being made, but the Quantum startups that are public (from SPACs) today are most likely junk companies outside of Quantinuum, mostly owned by Honeywell HON 0.00%↑.
Can SandboxAQ make money from Enterprise customers? Sure given enough funding they have a decent chance. But there aren’t many Quantum startups today in that category - that can generate revenue at scale or ever become profitable - basically what a startup is supposed to do.
Still Quantum startups remain one of the most engaging emerging tech companies I think or talk about. Eventually the timing and capabilities of the technology will be right for the latest crop of Quantum startups and they will have a viable future. It’s difficult to predict when that time will be, but most likely those founded in the 2030s. Perhaps the Quantum efforts of IBM, Microsoft of Nvidia themselves will come to something, though I’m not betting on it.
SEEQC’s original Series A was back in September, 2024. John Levy has been CEO of SEEQC for over seven years. Suddenly just like that, they have $30 million in new funding.
Let’s think about this for a moment. SEEQC is a pioneering company focused on developing digital quantum computing platforms. Founded in 2018, SEEQC aims to revolutionize the quantum computing landscape by integrating classical and quantum technologies to create efficient, scalable solutions for global businesses.
SEEQC is notable for its development of the first fully digital chips designed for quantum computing.
They claim to have built the first QC on a chip.
There’s more than meets the eye at SEEQC! 👁️🗨️
