SandboxAQ Gets $300 million more Funding

In a period where Google has unveiled a new chip called Willow coinciding with Gemini 2’s triumphant launch with many great Generative AI features, Google spin out SandboxAQ got important new funding. Meanwhile Eric Schmidt is on a PR splurge about War and his drone company in Estonia.

So what do China hawks have to do with Sandbox AQ? Earlier this month China unveiled a 504-Qubit Superconducting Chip. One of its most advanced quantum computer, the “Tianyan-504,” featuring a 504-qubit chip named “Xiaohong,” developed in partnership with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and QuantumCTek.

So what’s real and what’s not? In September, Microsoft and Atom Computing announced that they set a record for the largest number of entangled logical qubits. Colorado-based Quantinuum has set a new record in quantum computing by successfully entangling 50 logical qubits.
