IonQ creates first-of-its-kind quantum firm with $1.8bn acquisition | TelecomTV

Good Morning,

This week the most valuable public Quantum stock IonQ, ticker IONQ 0.00%↑ made a substantial claim and announcement.

IonQ announced Tuesday what it describes as the industry's first end-to-end real-time quantum error correction decoder. The company claimed that its researchers demonstrated the development and successful testing of the “industry’s first end-to-end real-time quantum error correction decoder” that runs on a single standard off-the-shelf central processing unit (CPU).

Unfortunately the word “breakthrough” in the Quantum industry doesn’t have the best historical track record. IonQ’s stock is actually down so far in 2026.

In technical research published on arXiv, IonQ evaluated its dual-decoder architecture across complex benchmark circuits simulating up to 408 logical qubits across 88 memory blocks and magic factories.

Let’s try to unpack this a little.
