In 2022 an unusual Google project spun out of Alphabet called Sandbox AQ. Now Eric Schmidt is the chairman of Sandbox AQ, and it’s a bit difficult to keep up with what Eric thinks about A.I.
Artificial intelligence could pose existential risks and governments need to know how to make sure the technology is not “misused by evil people,” former Google CEO Eric Schmidt warned. He served as Google’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman from 2001 to 2011, where he pioneered Google’s transformation from a Silicon Valley startup to a global leader in technology.
Sandbox AQ has a mandate to unite A.I. and Quantum and come up with technologies that can improve for example, enterprise cybersecurity risks. Eric Schmidt is also a venture capitalist and even an A.I. policy advisor.
Schmidt, who helmed Google from 2001 to 2011, is the world’s 66th-richest person with a net worth of $23.7 billion, according to Forbes. He seems to be pretty fixated on China.
China has launched a cutting-edge quantum computing cloud platform that promises to revolutionize computational tasks and grant public access to quantum computing at unparalleled speeds, according to Chinese media reports. Sandbox AQ it turns out raised $500 million as it left Alphabet.
Eric has been doing a lot more PR and public appearances recently. Eric Schmidt said advanced artificial intelligence posed an "existential risk" to humans.
